Membership Volunteering FAQs

A refundable Volunteer Incentive Bond is paid when you join the toy library. Members are expected to help for 2 x 2 hour sessions over their 6 or 12 month membership period. That’s only around 4 hours per year!
Volunteers play an essential role in tasks such as warmly greeting members, counting and re-shelving toys, and ensuring walkways are clear and safe. It’s not only a helpful contribution but also a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow members and explore our diverse range of toys, and volunteers can borrow a bonus toy at the end of each volunteer session.
Please note: Volunteer sessions need to be completed within the membership period. After your first volunteer session, we will gladly refund half of your bond. However, if you do not complete the required number of sessions, the bond will be forfeited, and you will be required to pay it again when you renew.

The involvement of our volunteers is crucial as it allows us to avoid hiring additional employees, which would ultimately result in higher membership prices.
Little Buddies Toy Library operates as a not-for-profit organisation owned by our members. To ensure the smooth functioning of our branches, a dedicated committee of volunteers manages the operations. Additionally, our session coordinators receive partial funding from the Wyndham City Council, enabling us to open every branch for every session. However, our coordinators cannot run a session alone. This is why we rely on the invaluable support of our members volunteers.
To sign up for a volunteering session, simply log in to your membership page in SETLs or reach out to a session coordinator. Your participation as a volunteer directly contributes to the success and affordability of our toy library. Thank you for being an integral part of our community!
